Each check compares a visual with the theme you set. Turn any of them off if it doesn't fit how your team works.

|---|---|---|
| Colour outside the brand palette | A hard-coded colour that isn't in your theme | High |
| Status colour used as a fixed colour | Red, amber or green painted on data that has no status | High |
| Font outside the theme | Any family other than your heading and body fonts | Medium |
| KPI card without a brand preset | Cards that skip your KPI presets, or still use the old card visual | Medium |
| Border, corner or shadow override | Effects that differ from the theme default | Medium |
| Conditional formatting with fixed colours | Rules that use hex codes instead of a status measure | Medium |
| Font size off the type scale | Sizes like 22 or 27 pt when your scale says 20 or 28 | Low |
| Chart title hidden | Charts that don't say what they show | Low |
| Background override | Hidden or semi-transparent visual backgrounds | Low |

In Power BI Desktop, choose File → Save as → Power BI project (.pbip). Zip the project folder, or pick its .Report folder.
Housestyle reads the report's PBIR files in your browser and scores every page out of 100.
Each finding names the visual, what it found, what your theme expects and where to change it in the Format pane. Export the list as CSV for the team.
The same app builds the theme your reports are checked against.

The scanner runs entirely in your browser. Report files are read locally and never uploaded, so there's nothing for your security team to review. There's no account to create, and Housestyle keeps no copy of your reports or your theme.
The scanner is free. A Team plan for whole report estates is in development, and a done-for-you brand audit is available now.

Power BI reports in the PBIR format, which is the default for reports saved in Power BI Desktop from September 2026. Upload a zipped .pbip project or choose a .Report folder. Reading .pbix files directly is experimental.
Open it in a current version of Power BI Desktop, make any small edit and save it. Desktop converts it to PBIR, and the scanner can read it from then on.
No. The scanner only reads your files. It tells you what to change and where; you make the changes in Power BI Desktop.
Yes. Import your theme file in the Brand theme tab, or use the theme that ships inside the report you scan. Reports are then checked against that theme.
You share them with us directly, under a simple NDA. We scan them, build the deliverables and delete our copies once you've confirmed delivery. The free scanner on this site never uploads anything.
